about

Settle Down (Found Tapes) explores the perspective of a follower from within various American cults including Heaven’s Gate and The People’s Temple (Jonestown).

Tackling themes of anxiety, sense of belonging, mourning, loss, and hope, Rasnake dives into the mindset of the people while asking questions about why they entered the cult, what made them leave, what made them stay, and how were they feeling in their final days.

Recorded to tape on a Tascam Portastudio 464, these lo-fi recordings were created with the intention of sounding like they were recorded on location during the time when these cults existed.

Settle Down (Found Tapes) is about the story, the message, and recreating a moment in time.

-----------------------
This EP is a work of fiction. Although it is intended to sound like autobiographical recordings, any resemblance to persons living or dead is coincidental. The cults that these stories are based on, however, were very real. The opinions expressed are those of the characters and should not be confused with those of the author's.
